Here is a step-by-step manual and all the templates to create a cover in the shape of a tape.

Many of you will feel nostalgic seeing this notepad. Personally, I want to take a pencil and rewind my favourite tape to listen it once again, if you know what I mean. Holding this notepad I feel snug and calm and it seems that any moment I’ll hear the old rotary phone and my childhood friend will announce: “Let’s pick some cherries!”

You don’t need any expensive or rare materials for this notepad. All the details are made from scratch. You’ll need a plotter or a ready-made set for this pad from @happysets_boutique

Can you make it without a plotter? Of course, you can. Just print out the outlines and cut them manually. You’ll just need a bit more time for that. The pad is 12,5х18 cm but you can scale the templates as you like.

I decided not to make a separate video on binding for this course but instead I’ve attached a video on binding from a sketchbook course. There are no differences but the format, basis weight and quantity of paper. You can bind the pad anyway you like.

You’ll need the following instruments:

• cutting pad
• utility knife
• metal ruler
• scoring tool.

For the same size of the pad you’ll need a piece of faux leather 43х26 cm. Also, you’ll need a needle, cord and cotton for the binding and headband, 1 sheet of scrapbooking paper for the flyleaf, 6 sheets of 1 mm size 15х20 cm (you can use different quantity of different thickness).

To decorate the tape you’ll need a bit of 0.3 mm plastic to make a shaker, thick paper (I use brown Colorplan 270 gr/m2). Gluing film 3M will help your pad be clean and neat, and to make it more real brown glossy vinyl will do.
I use four 8х1,5 mm Nd magnets for the buckle. The sticker for the front can be printed on any adhesive letter. I use vinyl for printers, which is thin and durable.

It’s great if you have a Foil Quill for laser foil decoration.

I use real heads of 7mm drywall screws on the cover. As for the glue I prefer Tacky Glue Original, but it doesn’t matter really! For some details you’ll need super moment gel.

All the other materials and instruments can be substituted, or you just have them at home. In the process I show how to substitute some difficult moments with easier ones.

I made the box of 0,3 mm plastic, attaching the details with lace eyelets, but you can also use brads.
You’ll need from 4 to 8 hours to make a pad. Average prime cost is between 300-600 RUR.
